You are hot like the Summer Special!

I am honored to be featured on Living Social, and if you do not know what Living Social is, then I advise you to head over and see what Deals they have going in your city!  I was beyond ecstatic that they wanted to feature my Boudoir Photography and ladies, this is the most affordable it will ever get!! Seriously! It is definitely a “You are hot like the Summer Special” that will only last for well, one more day! Head over and check it out and definitely purchase or gift a Boudoir session for yourself or for someone else!  Many people instantly think that Boudoir Photography is nude, semi-nude or just a woman in her underwear.  It is SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT!! To me it is an experience!  An experience of being pampered, being the focal point and showcasing all of your beauty in an elegant and sexy manner.  You can wear underwear, you can wear a dress or you can wear nothing.  It is entirely up to you what you feel sexy and beautiful in.  Some prefer to wear sexy lingerie but I love fashion and want you to showcase it as well.  Mix in a blazer with a sexy lingerie ensemble; pair a cute mini dress with heels and you are good to go or simply wear a beautiful bra and panty ensemble.  The key is to wear something that accentuates your body, flaunts your curves, makes you feel sexy & beautiful and that is comfortable.  Who wants to wear something uncomfortable whilst being photographed?  I know I would not! Feel free to check my Pinterest boards for tips on what to wear or check out my Boudoir Fashion board!  It is only fair to end a post with imagery and I have to post this portrait of Victoria!  She totally rocked her session last Sunday and I am loving her images!  This particular image speaks to me and not because I took it but because her beautiful eyes and sexy lips catch my attention. Victoria you are such a beautiful young lady–inside and out–and I wish you all the best in life, love, your career, prosperity and good health! XoRo

“Sex appeal is fifty percent what you’ve got and fifty percent what people think you’ve got.” ~Sophia Loren~I absolutely adore V's eyes and her heart shaped lips! Beautiful lady!

How do you define beauty?

Being beautiful is something that we hear often. How do you say what it is or should I ask, how do you describe it?  Almost every young girl & lady and especially a woman asks themselves this question some point in their life.  “I want to look beautiful” is a phrase you often hear a young girl describe the look she anticipates for her high school Prom, her Senior Portraits or on that night of a special school dance. You often hear women say that same phrase when they describe the way they want to look & feel on their wedding day or perhaps on a date night  or just whenever. 😉  Guys/Men perhaps wonder the same thing as well but they do not particular use the phrase “beautiful” but perhaps “handsome, swaggerific, buff, GQ, hot, sexy…ad nauseum.  What exactly is the definition of beauty? Trust me, I know what Merriam Webster says beautiful is, but to describe what is beautiful and what is not is not quite that simple.  To me there is a huge shade of gray when it comes to that topic.   Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and honestly you can definitely be beautiful most often when you think that you are not. You know that day you have when your hair styled right, your makeup looks great and your ensemble looks great & feels great on you–on your body…you feel beautiful! No one can take away a good hair day or a good makeup day! Seriously! Only humidity can ruin those two things and living in the South, it can do so often!  Bottom line is that you and only you can decide, know and truly understand your beauty.  We are all beautiful in one way or another and I love showing or should I say exposing that beauty.  Bringing it to light and showing it to the world.  Know that you are beautiful in your own form and flaunt it…own it!  After all Marilyn Monroe did and she was just an average, beautiful woman–with curves! ;D

I hope that everyone is having a great Summer but I definitely want to take the time to let the Gulf Coast families know that I am praying for them, their safety, homes and health.  The damage that Isaac has caused thus far has been mighty but also on the unfortunate seven year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.   I truly hope that Hurricane Isaac moves faster and keeps you all out of harms way.  My prayers are with you and a special prayer to a few families in particular that I know in those areas.  Stay safe! The Dog Days of Summer…

I have had the worst case of writer’s block lately.  Seriously, every time that I have tried to start a new post my mind goes blank.  So I decided to not think and to simply let me fingers do the typing and let everything flow out of my brain and onto the world wide web.  I so wish that I was in Vegas at the moment getting hugs from Sue Bryce and listening to that silky, soft & beautiful New Zealand/Aussie accent of hers!  I love her voice and her work…oh her work speaks volumes for itself.  Glamour me anytime Sue!! Anytime! I would love to walk up to Sal Cincotta and say, “Forgetaboutit!” in my faux New York/New Jersey accent and trust me he would laugh not because it was good and would give me a few tips perhaps!!  Alas, I will see these two again sooner rather than later!  Also, a huge shout out to Lindsay Adler (I adore this chick and thank her for opening my eyes to not be afraid to utilize my creativity), The Boudoir Divas & Zach & Jody Gray as they have spoken and are speaking in Vegas at WPPI-U as well.  These Photographers are truly amazing, talented, motivating, inspiring and 100% real and they have helped me SO much throughout my journey as a Photographer. I admire them, as well as their work, and I always wish them continued success.  On another note, I would so love to raid Marissa, Kimberlee & Jody’s closets if I could wear their size but I have too much junk in my trunk! 😀

So I am finishing up my new website and my re-brand. FINALLY!!  It is about ME and is a lot more personal but it truly shows my style in many aspects besides photography!! Yes I am using my name and incorporating everything that I love all rolled into one!  I do not want to spill the beans or give away too much–I must have a cliffhanger like a Friday episode of General Hospital–but I hope to launch my new site this month, if not at the beginning of September.  Wish me luck as I have done all of this by myself with the amazing help of a very talented artist named Kristina Williams!  She completely understood my vision, my style and the direction that I wanted and that I am going in and she executed it with such ease and beauty.  I am so thankful for her.  I got a chance to visit with Kristina before her move to San Antonio and capturing her behind my lens was a grand time! 😀 Seriously!!! I had a blast even though I was attacked by fire ants (my ankle turned into a cankle and is still slightly swollen) and I got bitten by a spider twice!! Did I mention I am allergic to spiders?! Yeah!!!!  It was all worth it and I wanted to share this beautiful image of her!  I made clean edits and this is NOT processed in Photoshop! She is absolutely gorgeous and her beau is one lucky fellow as she is smart, beautiful, talented, hilarious and can burp just like me!! She is good!  I cannot wait to post my session of Kristina on my new site soon!!  She is my own personal Disney Princess! 😉Kristina is an amazing artist who will do great things with her life...perhaps work for Disney!

Some may think that I am crazy for doing my own re-brand but hey I like IT related things, building something and making it mine and knowing that I did it myself.  I created this blogsite all by myself and will be launching another one soon.  As the late Walt Disney once said, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”  I will continue to do just that because anything in life is possible if we set our minds to it.  Never give up, always keep going and moving forward and have faith and know that good things will come your way tenfold.  I have to end this post with a few images of a funny & beautiful family who just added a lovely little boy to their family!  I am still ever so excited for the Woods family on the addition of little GQ, on Mom’s birthday nonetheless!! I hope that everyone is still doing great and that life is continuing to treat you guys grand!!  Julie, you are absolutely gorgeous–regardless if you are pregnant or not.

I hope that you all have a great week and I plan on blogging more about the dog days of Summer and hopefully some of those posts will be on my new site!! 😀 Until then!! XoRo

These two sisters were so excited to know they were getting a baby brother! This is one funny, loving & amazingly great family! Mom had a beautiful baby bump!I love capturing a mother to be in her true essence and beauty and simply showcasing her beauty and her bump! This mommy is gorgeous!

My guard is down…

I sit here completely confused about life, friends, relationships and a lot of other things that I thought to be true that apparently are not.  I typically do not take to my blog to discuss my personal feelings like an episode of The Kardashian’s or should I say like Kim Kardashian when she talked to everyone, including a camera, rather than her husband about her true feelings regarding their marriage. Do not get me wrong, I love me some Kim and her fashion style but sometimes we should talk to an individual versus a camera or no one.  Life is a constant roller coaster of ups and downs and all we can honestly do is make the best of the opportunities that have been given to us and/or presented to us.  Some people constantly wait with their hand out, waiting for the world to give them something rather than working for it. I am not one of those people–I am working for it, I will obtain it and once I do I am going to run with it from there!  I have gotten to that point in my life…that I have to truly follow my heart and do what is right for me.  No one will love me as much or MORE than I love myself and we should all know this.  We should all love ourselves more than anything–minus your children if you are a parent!  Here is to new adventures, endeavors and growth.  Hang on and get ready for the ride because it is bound to get bumpy! 😉

I hope that everyone is having a great day and I hope that you are not letting anyone rain on your parade!! 😀  XoRo

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~Marianne Williamson~  Self Portrait of myself backlit at Caddo Lake--loving the lens flare

Lazy Sunday

I cannot believe how quickly this weekend has zoomed by and that Sunday is halfway over!  I must admit, I enjoy days like today…total bum days! I have accomplished what I have needed to, but there is a great feeling when you can be an absolute coach potato.  I have sat here and caught up with Keeping Up With the Kardashians and listened to Kris Jenner moan like she was playing Anna Kournikova in the final match of the U.S. Open!  It was a hilarious sight to see her get “angry & upset” when her kids started mocking her!  Come on, you are the only person grunting!!  Anyhow, I am getting off subject!  I decided to do a quick half hair style versus letting my hair look like a rag doll!!  Here are a few images of my half hair flipped with plaits & braids that I tried on my own without a tutorial!  I love Hair Romance and it is definitely a blog you should read and follow if you are a hair whore nut like myself!  Seriously she rocks my socks off!! She even put jewelry in a top knot to make it even more chic! Loves it!!  Anywho, here is a quick lovely collage of my creation…trust me it is nothing like Christina’s creations but I think I did good considering I decided to randomly do it!  Image of my crazy creation that turned out cute! Pinning and braiding your hair is so needed for summertime in Texas

Yesterday I had such an incredibly great afternoon! I got to enjoy dinner with a beautiful view of nature but was glassed so that we could enjoy the air conditioning! Seriously, RiverBend Restaurant was amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling near, through or in the general vicinity of Caddo Lake.  Here are a few iPhone images to show the beauty of dinner and the start of a great afternoon! ImageImageImage

I hope that everyone is having a super lazy and wonderful Sunday evening!! XoRo  “Nobody of any real culture, for instance, ever talks nowadays about the beauty of sunset. Sunsets are quite old fashioned. To admire them is a distinct sign of provincialism of temperament. Upon the other hand they go on.~Oscar Wilde~

Performing my civil duty…

Well yesterday I had the pleasure [insert sarcasm] of being a part of voir dire or as most of you know it as  jury duty but thankfully I was not selected.  I will not go into details as I will not commit a crime but $6.00 for jury duty is crap not cool and does not even begin to cover your fuel charge or lunch for that manner.  BUT I did perform my civil duty, yet again.  It seems that I always get called for jury duty but I have NO idea why!! I was there ALL DAY but alas it is over and I can move forward.  Have you ever served on a jury?  Have you been subjected to being at the Court’s mercy in order to perform our civil duty all day and not be selected on the final panel?  Hahaha, yeah I know how you feel as well.  Disgruntled but yet relieved.
Here is a little eye candy to get you through the day! I hope that everyone has a terrific Tuesday!  XoRo

Adding Some Flair to My Life

→Don’t forget to check out my new blog, as I do not get the chance to update this one regularly! ←

I am in the sky above parts unknown floating way above cloud nine at the moment. As I look to my right at a blanket of white clouds I cannot help but feel extremely thankful. Life is good and it is always good when you stay in the positive mindset versus the negative. Turbulence will always arise in our lives but the glass is always half full. 😉
I had the distinct honor to be in Lindsay Adler’s live classroom for her creativeLIVE Fashion Flair for Portrait & Wedding Photographers Workshop this past weekend and it was ah-mazing!! Not “oh it was great” it was more like that OMG feeling after a much needed massage great!! Lindsay blew my mind-hole and I look forward to seeing her again in the near future. This chick is hands down awesome and accomplishing so many things and excelling in life on a daily basis. I know one reason why: she’s truly passionate about her work and photography in general. She is a beautiful person on in the inside as well as the outside and oh my goodness I still want that white floral print dress you wore on the first day!! Great pick Lila!! She pretty much covered everything from A-Z during her time on creativeLIVE and if you missed her workshops, they are available for purchase on the site. $149 is a steal for this workshop! She was completely hands on, involved us students from day one and when I say day one, I mean from the moment we were chosen to be in her classroom. I was completely thrilled by the homework assignments that she gave us and it pushed my creativity to the max before I ever arrived in Seattle! I never doubted myself because she was there with us every step of the way letting us know that she had faith in us. My passion for photography is not a game, nor is it a hobby–it is my artform. I never thought in a million years that I would make a tutu skirt but I did and I was damn proud of my skirt too!! It turned out great and fit Sara, my ballerina model perfectly! Speaking of Sara, BIG shout out to you young lady!! You completely rocked my socks off and proved to me that my concept was not crazy, strange or weird! You helped execute a vision that was in my head beautifully and I cannot thank you enough for your professionalism, constant contact over these past four weeks, your remarkable talent and for simply being you. You rocked our session and we made an awesome team!! 😀 You never know when I’ll be on the West Coast again for a collaboration but in the meantime, I do hope that Russell Andes creates some awesome work with you. A huge thank you goes to Beckie McCann of Vintage Ambiance for the pieces that she allowed me to use to create my French inspired dressing room set. All of her vintage pieces are amazing and available as rentals if you are having a wedding, party, reception or if you need to create a set. You should definitely check out her pieces as she has TONS of goodies!! You should have seen what my set looked like to begin with!! Beckie you are amazing and I cannot thank you enough!
I could go on and on but I must contain myself or else this blog post will become a novella!! A huge thank you to the uber talented makeup artist Lindsey Watkins that understood my vision and executed it far beyond my dreams! I had no doubt that she could or would but given the time constraints we were faced with, she knocked it out of the ball park Barry Bonds style! If you need a super talented makeup artist, especially for commercial use, she is your artist. When I think of Lindsey Watkins, The Golden Girls theme song pops into my head, “Thank you for being a friend!”
It was also great to see my Seattle peeps! Kenna K., Susan R., LeRae, Andes, Ian, Todd, my fake husband John C., Teth, Nikko and everyone else at the cL studio it is always a pleasure being in your company. I wish each and every one of you continued success in life, both personally and professionally. I also made a new friend thanks to Susan & LaRae and I am so glad that I did because Elissa you are awesome!! Lila it was GREAT to meet you in person and I love your aura–you are good people–and I wish you success with your photography business, as well as with your little spitfire model!! 😉 No one can model as vintage camera as fierce as you! Seriously! Ending the night with such great people, sinfully delicious dessert and great conversation was the perfect way for me to wrap up my time in Seattle. It was great to meet so many inspiring and creative individuals and I know our paths will cross again in the future! I think we should all setup a date for WPPI 2013! 😀 XoRo
