How do you define beauty?

Being beautiful is something that we hear often. How do you say what it is or should I ask, how do you describe it?  Almost every young girl & lady and especially a woman asks themselves this question some point in their life.  “I want to look beautiful” is a phrase you often hear a young girl describe the look she anticipates for her high school Prom, her Senior Portraits or on that night of a special school dance. You often hear women say that same phrase when they describe the way they want to look & feel on their wedding day or perhaps on a date night  or just whenever. 😉  Guys/Men perhaps wonder the same thing as well but they do not particular use the phrase “beautiful” but perhaps “handsome, swaggerific, buff, GQ, hot, sexy…ad nauseum.  What exactly is the definition of beauty? Trust me, I know what Merriam Webster says beautiful is, but to describe what is beautiful and what is not is not quite that simple.  To me there is a huge shade of gray when it comes to that topic.   Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and honestly you can definitely be beautiful most often when you think that you are not. You know that day you have when your hair styled right, your makeup looks great and your ensemble looks great & feels great on you–on your body…you feel beautiful! No one can take away a good hair day or a good makeup day! Seriously! Only humidity can ruin those two things and living in the South, it can do so often!  Bottom line is that you and only you can decide, know and truly understand your beauty.  We are all beautiful in one way or another and I love showing or should I say exposing that beauty.  Bringing it to light and showing it to the world.  Know that you are beautiful in your own form and flaunt it…own it!  After all Marilyn Monroe did and she was just an average, beautiful woman–with curves! ;D

I hope that everyone is having a great Summer but I definitely want to take the time to let the Gulf Coast families know that I am praying for them, their safety, homes and health.  The damage that Isaac has caused thus far has been mighty but also on the unfortunate seven year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.   I truly hope that Hurricane Isaac moves faster and keeps you all out of harms way.  My prayers are with you and a special prayer to a few families in particular that I know in those areas.  Stay safe! My guard is down…

I sit here completely confused about life, friends, relationships and a lot of other things that I thought to be true that apparently are not.  I typically do not take to my blog to discuss my personal feelings like an episode of The Kardashian’s or should I say like Kim Kardashian when she talked to everyone, including a camera, rather than her husband about her true feelings regarding their marriage. Do not get me wrong, I love me some Kim and her fashion style but sometimes we should talk to an individual versus a camera or no one.  Life is a constant roller coaster of ups and downs and all we can honestly do is make the best of the opportunities that have been given to us and/or presented to us.  Some people constantly wait with their hand out, waiting for the world to give them something rather than working for it. I am not one of those people–I am working for it, I will obtain it and once I do I am going to run with it from there!  I have gotten to that point in my life…that I have to truly follow my heart and do what is right for me.  No one will love me as much or MORE than I love myself and we should all know this.  We should all love ourselves more than anything–minus your children if you are a parent!  Here is to new adventures, endeavors and growth.  Hang on and get ready for the ride because it is bound to get bumpy! 😉

I hope that everyone is having a great day and I hope that you are not letting anyone rain on your parade!! 😀  XoRo

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~Marianne Williamson~  Self Portrait of myself backlit at Caddo Lake--loving the lens flare

It’s a leap year so I might as well take a leap…right

My original post can be found by visiting, http://www.blogging.lifebehindmylens.com/2012/01/03/its-a-leap-year-so-i-might-as-well-take-a-leap-right/.  I wanted to put this post on both blogs!

Well most of my friends now that I am a leap year baby and with being said...I am taking a huge leap!!  I am putting myself out there and hoping to be one of the six finalists chosen to attend the Zach and Jody Gray’s Wedding Weekend creativeLIVE EVENT!!! Yes I am super excited that they will be on creativeLIVE and that we will all get to stream and watch this for free–yes free–but I would SO LOVE to be there!!  I have wanted to learn off camera flash from these two for almost two years and it is SO hard getting into their workshops.  Not all of them fit with my work schedule and when one does, BOOM, sold out. Seriously, there plus class sold out instantly at WPPI 2011.  I was bummed.  They are amazingly talented, humble and down right awesome.  I enjoyed meeting them while I was in Vegas but I would love the opportunity to learn from them with a hands-on experience like this!  Wish me luck guys!  2012 is a big year for me, as I am developing and finalizing a new brand, new website and so much more.  My fingers are crossed and I would love some of Zach’s coffee but if it’s not meant to be me, I truly hope those six individuals realize how AMAZING of an opportunity this is and are truly grateful!! I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to Nancy Dodich for her wonderful graphic skills! She made this cool coffee photo for me and I love how it turned out! She is a woman of many talents! 🙂 Thank you again creativeLIVE, as well as Zach and Jody!  XoRo

“The happiest people are those who think the most interesting thoughts. Those who decide to use leisure as a means of mental development, who love good music, good books, good pictures, good company, good conversation, are the happiest people in the world. And they are not only happy in themselves, they are the cause of happiness in others.” ~William Lyon Phelps~

♥ It is that time of year ♥

I love this time of the year but I do not enjoy seeing the greed and craziness it evokes in some individuals. I hope you all have been traveling safe. There is business everywhere this time of year. People speeding, driving erratic and after they almost hit you, they have the audacity to look at you like you slapped their mom or something! You can shop online these days and it is not less meaningful…well except if it were diamonds. Those need to be purchased in person for sure. 🙂 I have to admit, I have been a little slow on the whole “Christmas shopping” this year but it will all come together without any madness.

I do want to take the time out to ask my blog stalkers or anyone who comes across my blog to please pray for a young lady name Rachel Davis. Rachel is a loving mother and wife and last Sunday when she and her her family were getting ready to take their new baby sister home from the hospital, she went into cardiac arrest. It has been a major roller coaster for her family and I have and will continue to pray for her strength, her health and her family. Rachel had open heart surgery yesterday and the procedure went well; she is resting and recovering. Please open your hearts and say a prayer for the Davis family and for Rachel. If you would like to make a donation for her medical expenses, you can do so at Texas Bank.

So, I had this whole idea for my blog for December. I was going to write a post every day about something or a session that I have never blogged about. Well we see how that turned out!!! It’s December 11th and I am making my first blog post! Slacker!!! Seriously I have been busy just living life and things have been great. So I will start off my first December blog post with something I have not experienced in quite some time. Last weekend I attended a wedding as a GUEST!!!! It was great! It was the first time in over five years that I was at a wedding and I was not in it nor shooting it. It was nice to sit back, relax and enjoy the moment. Two individuals expressing their love, “I will!” and admiring all of the details!!! Oh, the deets were gorge! 🙂 I will blog about that wedding in another post because I did take photos of the ceremony; it was too gorge not to!!! 😀

So I am getting ready to head out to celebrate Kipton’s first birthday. Kipton is on my blog header…inside of his mother’s belly! 😉 I cannot wait to see all of the great things his mom will have setup for the party–Katriana already made a really cool rock star cake! Until then, I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday.  ♥
