~*Birthday wishes & memories*~

Today is one of my best friend’s birthday; Happy Birthday Nancy Maribel.  Even though you fled moved to another country with free health care [glad you got your card by the way] I still wanted to show you some love from the States. 😉  I know that I will not see you in person for a while but thankfully Skype has kept us in touch this past year.  You are the only person I trust enough to ride the metro in Mexico City, Mexico with!!!

Alas, you grabbed my camera and took photos as the clown painted my face–into a rabbit!  Oh how I will never forget that moment…I mean how often does one get grabbed by a clown who is speaking to them in Spanish and painted into a rabbit?!?  Nancy is hours behind me so I am not sure if she is even awake at the moment but I wanted to send her a little blog love.  You are a extraordinary person as well as friend and I hope that today is a wonderful, drama free and absolutely fabulous day for you.  You deserve it.  Did I mention how remarkable of a graphic designer she is?  Well she is!!!  Like seriously amazing! She never ceases to amaze me with the wonderful things she creates.  I love when our creative minds cross into one and the outcome–to me–is always gorgeous!  Want to see an example…well here you go!

I know that we both will continue to climb over any and all obstacles that come our way, just like we climbed the Pyramid of the Sun.  Have a great Tuesday my American/Canadian friend! 😉  Much love from Tejas!

Interesting Date

I love how yesterday’s date was 8.9.10.  And to just think, I could have heard my idol speak on that very day [insert me sighing here].

I cannot wait until 10.10.10 personally. 😉 I hope that I am fortunate enough to see it. I love Fall and Spring!  The colors are amazing, as well as the fashion inspirations!  I am sitting here listening to music on Pandora as I upload photos for proofing.  The Cranberries just came on–Linger–good song.  I continue to anticipate change and good things to come my way and good things for my family, friends and clients.  My past, present and future clients.  I am very appreciative of the many photographers and the individuals who continue to inspire me daily.  I think we should all encourage one another to be better in everything that we do.

With this in mind I am giving a special shout out to Emily!  Rock the American Idol auditions!!! You can sing to me anytime because your voice is absolutely radiant. And no I am not saying that because I am biased! 😉 The perfect song just came on Pandora for me to end this, Take it Easy by The Eagles.

Life is a Constant Movement

I have always loved the art of dance.  I have always envied “Gumby’s” the extremely flexible dancers.  Gumby’s are the individuals that you stare at in awe in dance classes, dance camps, competitions, shows and performances…you get my point!!  They have this amazing gift and trust me if you have never seen an Anaheim Dance video then you should definitely check one out! Aria Alekzander represents Texas proudly with her astonishing skillz! They do these amazing dancer profiles and trust me, they are all awesome! You should definitely take a look at Austin Eder’s dancer profile! 😉 Pretty awesome tiny dancer! 😉

So now that you know that I have a L-O-V-E for dance, it was only fitting that I did a session with two very talented dancers. Katie and Morgan are awesome. Their skillz amazed me and my shutter continuously. Katie is a human gumby!!! She can bend like crazy! I wanted this session to be somewhere different and not a place where one would consider shooting a dance session. So in a parking garage–after the rain forced us off the top level–I was able to capture some amazing shots of these two. I still have tons of photos that I am filtering through but felt like blogging about this! I have put it off for too long and I only thought it was fitting to share.

These girls can get some serious air–serious! Katie is like 5 inches shorter than Morgan…maybe 3-5 but seriously I am going to go with 5! Sorry Katie!
I love their amazing flexibility.  Morgan really got her back stretched and I was able to capture this amazing stag as well as Katie’s awesome scorpion!  Plus I am really digging the silhouette that we were getting from the lighting!

Appreciation

I want to give a special thank you shout out to Emily.  Your awesomeness amazes me.  Reading those Harry Potter book’s has quickly helped you master almost all of the amazing things on a MacBook! You are such a little wizard! 😉  Thank you again for all of your help and it is truly appreciated.

It is true; a client can turn into a true friend.  I have experienced it many times and I only hope to continue doing so.

Emily totally caught me off guard with this last shot; it was completely unscripted, unplanned…a total Emily moment!  That’s why I love her! 🙂

Emily, it was time for your face to make it onto my new blog!  Thank you so much for all of your help, assistance, hard work, sweating, patience and downright creativity.  Thank you for being you!

I hope everyone has a Happy Thursday!

Who doesn’t love a great giveaway?

Without Lightroom…I would be lost. 😦 Seriously…my editing has been cut in half by LR but I have also fallen in love with LR Presets!  What you do not know about LR Presets?  Are you living under a rock? 4 The Love of Focus is giving away an amazing $75 gift certificate to Amy McMaster Photography’s amazing store! I have tried the AMP’s Serendipity action and it is absolutely lovely. I have also tried Amy’s AMP Squeaky Clean, On the Edge & the Beyond Shades of Gray Lightroom Presets and they are editing favs! They have helped cut my workflow by so much time and enables me to mix my own recipes to create a unique look that is polished! I have nothing but good things to say about Amy’s products and you should definitely go over to her blog, read and go over to her store and check them out!  Like now!  😉

Here is an example of an image I processed using Amy’s Lightroom Presets. They are wonderful, help get that tone curve just right, helps get rid of those shadows and pops your colors!

I simply used Amy’s AMP’s Squeaky Clean LR presets and as well as the On the Edge that comes along with that set for my border.  I did smooth her skin to eliminate some of the redness due to the fact that we were outside in the lovely Texas heat [and humidity] but she was not Photoshopped to look unnatural!  Until next time, I hope everyone is doing well and had a wonderful weekend!  Monday workout here I come! Oh by the way, if you were curious as to how the finished image turned out…here is my final shot of Katriana.  I simply used  Kevin Kubota’s Fashion Passion, as well as his Magic Sharp actions…lovely! Her eyes are simply enticing! 😉

What’s your blog romance?

Lately I have been…well…lazy busy and my blog has been neglected.  All things aside, I have been busy!  BUT…I have not had the time, energy nor drive to blog lately and as my eyes grow tired as I type this, I must address my bad blog romance.  Lately when I hear Lady Gaga’s song “Bad Romance” I only hear in my head “Blog Romance!”  I guess anything and everything is reminding me that I am having a bad blog romance!  So with that thought I decided to show a little blog love, even if it is just a post about me rambling!  😉  What is your blog romance?  Are you as dedicated as Jasmine Star?  Hmmm….maybe, maybe not! :-/ Even Jasmine says it is hard to blog everyday.  Basically, there are no excuses–even if I am blogging this post instead of sleeping! 😉

“Life is full of beauty.  Notice it.  Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.” {Ashley Smith}

Nikki is an awesome crafter and she loves her work, so I wanted to incorporate a little bit of her family with her craft.  Since her husband and sons were not able to make it to the session, I asked her how she felt about letting them each put their hand print on her belly–with paint! 😉  She was completely down and  I love how this turned out; they were all connected.
