You are hot like the Summer Special!

I am honored to be featured on Living Social, and if you do not know what Living Social is, then I advise you to head over and see what Deals they have going in your city!  I was beyond ecstatic that they wanted to feature my Boudoir Photography and ladies, this is the most affordable it will ever get!! Seriously! It is definitely a “You are hot like the Summer Special” that will only last for well, one more day! Head over and check it out and definitely purchase or gift a Boudoir session for yourself or for someone else!  Many people instantly think that Boudoir Photography is nude, semi-nude or just a woman in her underwear.  It is SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT!! To me it is an experience!  An experience of being pampered, being the focal point and showcasing all of your beauty in an elegant and sexy manner.  You can wear underwear, you can wear a dress or you can wear nothing.  It is entirely up to you what you feel sexy and beautiful in.  Some prefer to wear sexy lingerie but I love fashion and want you to showcase it as well.  Mix in a blazer with a sexy lingerie ensemble; pair a cute mini dress with heels and you are good to go or simply wear a beautiful bra and panty ensemble.  The key is to wear something that accentuates your body, flaunts your curves, makes you feel sexy & beautiful and that is comfortable.  Who wants to wear something uncomfortable whilst being photographed?  I know I would not! Feel free to check my Pinterest boards for tips on what to wear or check out my Boudoir Fashion board!  It is only fair to end a post with imagery and I have to post this portrait of Victoria!  She totally rocked her session last Sunday and I am loving her images!  This particular image speaks to me and not because I took it but because her beautiful eyes and sexy lips catch my attention. Victoria you are such a beautiful young lady–inside and out–and I wish you all the best in life, love, your career, prosperity and good health! XoRo

How do you define beauty?

Being beautiful is something that we hear often. How do you say what it is or should I ask, how do you describe it?  Almost every young girl & lady and especially a woman asks themselves this question some point in their life.  “I want to look beautiful” is a phrase you often hear a young girl describe the look she anticipates for her high school Prom, her Senior Portraits or on that night of a special school dance. You often hear women say that same phrase when they describe the way they want to look & feel on their wedding day or perhaps on a date night  or just whenever. 😉  Guys/Men perhaps wonder the same thing as well but they do not particular use the phrase “beautiful” but perhaps “handsome, swaggerific, buff, GQ, hot, sexy…ad nauseum.  What exactly is the definition of beauty? Trust me, I know what Merriam Webster says beautiful is, but to describe what is beautiful and what is not is not quite that simple.  To me there is a huge shade of gray when it comes to that topic.   Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and honestly you can definitely be beautiful most often when you think that you are not. You know that day you have when your hair styled right, your makeup looks great and your ensemble looks great & feels great on you–on your body…you feel beautiful! No one can take away a good hair day or a good makeup day! Seriously! Only humidity can ruin those two things and living in the South, it can do so often!  Bottom line is that you and only you can decide, know and truly understand your beauty.  We are all beautiful in one way or another and I love showing or should I say exposing that beauty.  Bringing it to light and showing it to the world.  Know that you are beautiful in your own form and flaunt it…own it!  After all Marilyn Monroe did and she was just an average, beautiful woman–with curves! ;D

I hope that everyone is having a great Summer but I definitely want to take the time to let the Gulf Coast families know that I am praying for them, their safety, homes and health.  The damage that Isaac has caused thus far has been mighty but also on the unfortunate seven year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.   I truly hope that Hurricane Isaac moves faster and keeps you all out of harms way.  My prayers are with you and a special prayer to a few families in particular that I know in those areas.  Stay safe! Lazy Sunday

I cannot believe how quickly this weekend has zoomed by and that Sunday is halfway over!  I must admit, I enjoy days like today…total bum days! I have accomplished what I have needed to, but there is a great feeling when you can be an absolute coach potato.  I have sat here and caught up with Keeping Up With the Kardashians and listened to Kris Jenner moan like she was playing Anna Kournikova in the final match of the U.S. Open!  It was a hilarious sight to see her get “angry & upset” when her kids started mocking her!  Come on, you are the only person grunting!!  Anyhow, I am getting off subject!  I decided to do a quick half hair style versus letting my hair look like a rag doll!!  Here are a few images of my half hair flipped with plaits & braids that I tried on my own without a tutorial!  I love Hair Romance and it is definitely a blog you should read and follow if you are a hair whore nut like myself!  Seriously she rocks my socks off!! She even put jewelry in a top knot to make it even more chic! Loves it!!  Anywho, here is a quick lovely collage of my creation…trust me it is nothing like Christina’s creations but I think I did good considering I decided to randomly do it!  Image of my crazy creation that turned out cute! Pinning and braiding your hair is so needed for summertime in Texas

Yesterday I had such an incredibly great afternoon! I got to enjoy dinner with a beautiful view of nature but was glassed so that we could enjoy the air conditioning! Seriously, RiverBend Restaurant was amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling near, through or in the general vicinity of Caddo Lake.  Here are a few iPhone images to show the beauty of dinner and the start of a great afternoon! ImageImageImage

I hope that everyone is having a super lazy and wonderful Sunday evening!! Idle Thoughts

It amazes me how quickly this year is going by.   May is almost over, the heat & humidity are already here and I cannot imagine what July is going to feel like…much less June.  I only hope that this summer is not as brutal as last year and that we get plentiful amounts of rain.  Thankfully I get to enjoy some cool West Coast weather for a few days in like…hours! It amazes me how quickly these weeks have flown by and everything that has gone into this opportunity that has been given to me.  If you are a regular follower or you know me from Facebook or Twitter, I was selected to be in Lindsay Adler’s live studio audience for her Fashion Flair for Photographers creativeLIVE workshop, June 1, 2012 – June 3, 2012.  I was amazed, grateful, shocked, excited, nervous, thankful, inspired all at once for this experience that I have been embarking upon!  Still am!  This is going to be an amazing adventure and I cannot wait to see what Flair she teaches, as well as shows us. Her work, as well as Lindsay herself, inspires us, pushes us, motivates us and opens up this amazing porthole of creativity inside of our  thoughts and  visual outcomes.  Art imitating art.  <– Hopefully I did not confuse you but if you tune into Lindsay’s cL class, you will know exactly what I am talking about.  How ironic that We Will Rock You by Queen just started playing on my Journey Pandora station! Awesome!!

I am ever so GRATEFUL AS WELL AS THANKFUL to say this is not my first time in the creativeLIVE studio and I am looking forward to being back and seeing everyone!  Like I have said time after time, they are a great  I am extremely excited to meet my other classmates and to see what they have been cooking up as well! 😉  I was ever so grateful to be a student and model in Bambi Cantrell’s Posing MasterClass on cL.  No I am not going to go into depth because that will get its own complete post! It was an amazing opportunity and learning experience.  I walked away with so much knowledge and understanding.  It was the first time since my Senior Portraits that I had been professionally photographed.  I was a nervous wreck but she quickly made me feel comfortable in front of the lens.  It was a different element being in front of the lens and I gained an abundance of knowledge when it comes to posing from just that portion of the class alone.  Bambi is fierce and she brings it!  I call her the energized Bambi!! She goes 90 miles per second and she creates stunning images that are unique, classic yet modernly creative and they are absolutely beautiful.  I have thought that long before I, as well as thousands of others, saw the portraits that she captured of me.  She was working me and I was sore the next day but the experience alone was and is priceless and I truly am thankful to Bambi for the opportunity and the experience.  Thank you again Cicada Bridal for the Couture gown!

So with that in mind I am ready to get this day started and to see what the day brings.  Wishing everyone safe travels to Seattle!! See you soon!! XoRo

Loving the Road Taken

For weeks I have been…well blank.  I have had a little bit of writer’s block or blogger’s block I guess I should call it.  Not that I don’t have anything going on, to post,  to be happy about or share–lots of great things happening–but I have sat at my computer blank.  Day after day without writing anything in the “Add New Post” page that I have had pulled up.  Alas, I thought about one of my favorite poems Sunday night.  It is a poem that I have always loved and every time after reading it, I feel rejuvenated.   Why?  I am not sure.  Maybe because it stems from my childhood.  Maybe because it is such a great poem and it was written by the remarkable Robert Frost.  All of his poems make me feel one with nature.  Just like this weekend when I spent a little time with nature and I saw these really cool looking “berries” that looked delicious!!!

Trust me, I did not eat them.  I only took a few photos of them with my phone!  I was just mesmerized by their beautiful purple hue and their vitality.  Nature is beautiful but not always edible for humans!  As the nature trip was nearing its end, I snapped a photo and that is what made one of my favorite poems pop into my head, “The Road Not Taken.” If you do not know this poem you should be shunned!  Yes I just said that!!  Or your English teacher in grade school, middle school or high school should be shunned!!!

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth; then took the other, as just as fair, and having perhaps the better claim, because it was grassy and wanted wear; though as for that the passing there had worn them really about the same, and both that morning equally lay in leaves no step had trodden black.  Oh, I kept the first for another day!  Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.  I shall be telling this with a sigh, somewhere ages and ages hence:  Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

I love the roads that I have taken in my life and honestly I only hope that I am blessed to be able to take many more.  Happy Tuesday everyone! 😀
